Threshold Studio Workshops
Held in a Sausalito waterfront art studio every month.
Paint, collage, make monotypes, write poetry & prose, and learn ways to make abstract thinking, the root of creativity, a conscious process. The workshops are about reclaiming the conceptual mind, breaking free of left-brained linearity, and expanding one’s relationship to creativity. We also find solutions to real-time problems. But not least, we have a lot of fun. This is the same workshop that is given to the staffs of many Bay Area non-profits and businesses. The workshops are approximately 4 ½ hours in length. All materials are provided. Just wear clothes that can take some paint. And register early, because workshop space is limited.

SPECIAL FOCUS WORKSHOPS
In addition to the group studio workshops, Jim also facilitates one-of-a-kind, special focus workshops for one or more individuals. For example, Jim works with new and advanced artists in various painting techniques. These may include working with mediums-oils, pastels, acrylics-and with various styles-glazing, figurative abstract, collage, still-lifes, and extreme realism. Typically, such workshops are conducted in four-hour sessions, although they can be expanded. For the first three hours, a problem is set up and executed by both the participant and the facilitator. During the last hour Jim and the participant(s) critique each other's work.
Threshold Studio Workshop Testimonials
“What I appreciated so much about the workshop was using images to describe various aspects of myself. Everything we write, everything we paint is a self-portrait.”
—Rachelle Dorris, Realtor, Frank Howard Allen, Mill Valley, CA
“I didn’t know that it was possible to learn so much about myself in such a short period of time.”
—Peggy Bernadoni, Student, San Andreas High School, Larkspur, CA
